Bloody English

Samuel King is a private detective. Sixteen years ago he left the Amish community he was raised in, but he still upholds their high moral standards in his work and life. When Morton Clark goes missing, Samuel is hired to find him. While investigating Morton Clark’s disappearance he uncovers Alistair Simms, a mysterious figure. When they meet, Samuel finds himself overwhelmingly attracted to Alistair, and Samuel is forced to face his reasons for leaving his family and community.

Alistair and Samuel are excellent studies in opposites. Alistair is a strong worldly vampire who is tortured by his past transgressions and isolates himself from the world so that he can no longer hurt others. He only concerns himself with the outside world by watching over each generation of his descendants. Samuel is a man of strong moral fiber who still upholds the tenets of the Amish belief system; he has managed to maintain an air of innocence and purity even after sixteen years in the “English” world. When they finally meet the attraction is instantaneous and undeniable, but can they each overcome their pasts in order to make a future together. This was the first book that I had read by Renee George, but after finishing I immediately went and bought some more books by her.
