Falling: An Erotic Love Story

Cain Hawkins has spent his entire 150 years of life repressing his nature. Not just his nature as a member of the Naverto demons but as a homosexual man. Not only is being homosexual forbidden among his people, it is a crime punishable by death. In order to suppress this side of his nature, Cain keeps to himself and in his long life has only allowed himself to become close to the two men he has adopted as brothers, Connor and Caleb, both demons of the Dastetier demon tribe, and Connor’s wife Cassie. But when Cassie’s best friend, Luke, is beaten and abused and she takes him in to nurse back to health, things change. Connor wants Cain to take Luke to his ranch and give him a job. Cain wants to refuse because he has been intensely attracted to Luke since the first moment he met him years ago, but he can’t because it is his brother asking. Things soon become heated as Cain finds that he can no longer avoid his growing attraction to Luke, especially when Luke makes it known that the attraction is mutual.

While I’m not usually a fan of the cowboy genre of erotica, Falling intrigued me from the moment I saw its cover until I turned the last page. I wasn’t entirely sure that cowboys and paranormal would be an entirely cohesive mesh. I am happy to admit that in this case I was dead wrong. Cameron Dane has created a world where ranchers can be fantastical flying demons and caring rehabilitative horsemen at the same time. Cain was faced with a momentous decision, is it better to be alive and live a barren, lonely existence never knowing sexual intimacy, or live a short time filled with passion and emotion? Waiting to find out what he decided had me gripping my ebook reader both hoping and dreading his choice. Well written with an excellent plot and subplot, Falling is a book that grips you and doesn’t let you go even after you read the last page. The characters are multidimensional and so well drawn that you really feel them off the page. I fell in love with Cain and Luke and could only read with bated breath praying that the ending was one the one that I wanted. I highly recommend this book to any lover of the cowboy or paranormal genre of erotica.
