A Cry In The Night – Tarot: The Tower

Three centuries after the murder of his wife by a Beast, Talen has a new charge, Lianna Jennings. He arranges to be her boss at the company she works for and uses his not at all insufficient charm on her. It helps that Talen finds her the first woman since his wife to really turn him on and attract him. He has two weeks to make Lianna trust him enough to help her through the Lunacy. He falls for her and cannot imagine his life without her. Can he make her trust him in the time he has and help her through the Lunacy?

Ms. Calloway has written a very cute story. It’s just dark enough to be fun to curl up with on a late stormy night and not so dark as to give one nightmares. The prologue is spent explaining the various races and the Lunacy that is such a part of the story. I found this to be a bit confusing until I read it over a second time.

The characters are three-dimensional and have their flaws as well as their strengths. For example, Talen wants to be loved again whether or not he admits it to himself. He opens himself up to love despite the fact that Lianna might not survive the Lunacy.

I enjoyed this book. Just when you think all is lost Ms. Calloway saves the day and we get our happily-ever-after ending that if we’re honest with ourselves is a good part of why we read romance.
