A Killer’s Agenda
Brad Norton doesn’t believe the police who tell him his aunt’s shooting was just random. No, he thinks it’s part of a series of shootings, and he wants to prove it and find the killer. He knows something of security since he runs his own security company, but for this Brad needs help.
Alex Leahy is a private investigator with an extra edge; she’s clairvoyant and very good at what she does. She’s hired by Brad to help him prove his theory and find the killer despite his doubts about her abilities. Can these two very different people come together and solve the case before the killer gets them? Can they find love despite their differences?
Ms. Whiting does a superb job of telling this story. I enjoyed the differences in the characters and their certainty that there was something more than business between them even if they weren’t sure what or if they wanted it.
I loved Brad’s confidence contrasted with his vulnerability. The deep desire he has, unacknowledged even to himself, to be loved. Alex’s strength contrasts with her need to protect Brad despite her lack of confidence in her own skills. She has her own vulnerabilities, and Brad before the story is over addresses them in a most unique fashion. A Killer’s Agenda keeps you on the edge of your seat for most of the book. I did figure out who was behind the killings, but not the real reason why, so I was pleasantly surprised to be, well, surprised. I love romantic suspense, and this one has just the right balance of both though it leans a bit more toward suspense. There are sex scenes, but they are gently done and fit into the story nicely.
