Daughter of Man

Ellen is walking home from work and is excited because she has a romantic dinner planned for her boyfriend Eric. As she takes a shortcut, she gets lost in the park she is so use to traveling through. Things are definitely not right, and she has an eerie sense of doom. She starts to panic and comes upon a half-naked man who is watching her. She runs away, but he catches her. She looses consciousness as he places his mouth against her own and takes her breath away.

She awakens in a room unlike anything she has seen and is naked lying on a very comfortable bed. Before she can gather her wits together, her abductor comes to her and quickly ravishes her before she can refuse. She is powerless because he makes her overcome with lust and need, and only he can give her what she wants. When he has finally been fulfilled, he tells her he is Michael, an angel of God. He has watched Ellen, fallen in love with her and has taken her to his sphere, a world he can bend to his own. Even though Ellen tries to deny him, she simply can’t because he overtakes her every chance he can get. She soon revels in his all consuming love making to the point she wants to forget her life on Earth, but as she continues to fight Michael, he becomes enraged and punishes her by using her own body against her.

Daughter of Man is definitely not a book for everyone. There are forced seductions, many between Michael and Ellen as he takes her time and again with no care for her own opinion. He gives her the ultimate pleasure, but at what cost? I could say Michael is the villain of this piece, but in his mind he found love and will do whatever he can to take hold of what he feels is his. Ellen is the true suffering heroine. She has lost everything she knows in her life, from her boyfriend she loves to under going some incredible abuse, which is mainly the sexual kind. Eventually she enjoys what is happening to her, but since she is human, a piece of her is still on the mortal realm.

Aleisha Browne has written one heavy hitting story that deals with theology, including angels and even Lucifer himself. If you are looking for a conventional love story or even a happily ever after, Daughter of Man is not that type. This is more for fans of scorching erotica where everything is open to interpretation. I was shocked but also intrigued by Browne’s world. For a titillation and scandalous read, Daughter of Man should shock but leave you wondering what will happen to Ellen next.
