Agent Provocateur: Confessions
Agent Provocateur: Confessions is an anthology of ‘confession’ style stories. The stories run the gamut from a tryst with a stranger to a threesome with an old school friend. ‘The Secret’ is a sensual tale of a woman who is bored with her life and decides to seduce a man she sees at the gym. It is both romantic and erotic in its telling. ‘Grammar Lesson’ takes the typical relationship and changes it: the man is a young student and the woman is his schoolteacher. The story is touching at moments interspersed with raw passion. ‘Ritual’ turns a typical affair on its ear – is it still cheating if there is no touching involved?
Agent Provocateur: Confessions is an interesting book. More racy and erotic than its counterpart book, the stories are also deep. The tales eke out other emotions from the reader: sadness, longing, disbelief, and curiosity. The stories in the book are cohesive and tend to build each other up. The stories have a ‘darker’, more serious element to them. I felt that ‘Secret’ was the stand out story in the collection. It is written in the style of a classic, forbidden affair. It is romantic yet appalling in its frankness. The book itself is pretty to look at: a plain black cover with beautiful artwork on the inside. It is a book that you can leave at and others won’t think twice about it!
