Woman of the Mountain
As the youngest son, Casmin has a destiny. Upon learning there is nothing for him to inherit, his father sends him to the temple of Zenthe. It is there he will receive the finest opportunity any man is given. The priestess takes care of her soldiers. The decision is not easy for his father, but is something he knows Casmin will be well-gifted for. Lady Adita, Woman of the Mountain, Zenthe’s Voice and High Priestess seeks a consort. While serving Adita, she notices as the years pass, Casmin matures in many ways, as well as their relationship. He does as she orders even when the Kahmudj rise up against them. Too much battle not only shows courage but makes fighting even desperate. Between duty and desire, Adita craves for Casmin. With him she has always found comfort and peace, not to mention lust. When the Kahmudjans wish to discuss a solution to the conflict, Casmin is her soldier first and will perform his duties. Now it is up to him to obey her or claim her as the woman he loves.
This story is fascinating in more ways than one. There are so many descriptions of the landscape and surrounding areas that the reader is just mesmerized with every detail that Angela Caperton brings forth in this terrific read. She allows the reader to feel just as much a part of this tale as the characters themselves. Casmin and Adita are both compelling individuals that capture the reader and leave a huge impression. The incredible plot surrounding the Kahmudjans and Adita made Woman of the Mountain more in-depth. I found Casmin’s devotion admirable. I cannot remember reading such a novel that transpires in such a smooth way completely captivating the reader. This is one story that I feel is definitely a keeper on anyone’s shelf.
