Getting Lucky
Sports agent Dexter Brantley fell in lust with psychic Lara Wyland a few years ago when one of his clients called her in to help him get over a curse that a relative put on his football kicking leg. He knew that he left a terrible impression of himself on her, but he really didn’t believe in what she was doing. However, now Dexter needs help with removing a curse from him. He had always been known as a “lucky bastard” when it came to getting new clients, but that changed when a national newswire found out about a curse put on his family years ago. He has lost clients, had two homes burned to the ground and is ready to call in the “ghost busters” aka Lara.
Lara remembered Dexter from all of those years ago because he made fun of her for doing what she could to help his client. He was devastatingly handsome and flirted with her like crazy, but the impression was not a good one to leave. Now he is calling her for help which has her really puzzled as to what’s really going on in his head. What she is not prepared for is the sexual energy that she receives off of him when they meet. She sees sexual escapades that happened in the house, some of the women that Dexter has been with in the past and she sees herself as being with him also! Dexter feels that if they work on the sexual energy then she can focus on the curse to find out if it is real. Is there really a curse of are the things being done to Dexter the actions of a person?
Joanne Rock writes them hot and scorching, and Getting Lucky proves that she is also a fantastic mystery writer! Don’t get me wrong, this is a Blaze book and also very steamy, but the main thing about the book that drew me into it was the mystery and did it have anything to do with the “voices” that Lara heard or was it a person doing all the damage to Dexter? Whether they were together and heating up the pages or apart the character were very strong and held the book together. The Blaze on the cover proves that the sexual tension will be hot, but this book is a new feature to Blaze and the “Blush” on the cover simply shows that not all sexual encounters need to be serious. Is Dexter really cursed or is there a person involved? You’ll have to read Getting Lucky to find out.
