Night Wolf

For weeks Amanda has listened to the howling going on in the woods around her secluded home. Maybe that’s why her latest book has a werewolf hero. Even living alone the howling doesn’t bring fear, but when a knock sounds at her door in the middle of the night, she’s suddenly hit with how isolated and alone she is. But when she opens the door to a naked, wounded man she has no choice but to let him in. Dane needs help before he can return to his pack, and even though he knows being close to the human Amanda will test all his control, his injuries prevent him from leaving. With instant attraction on both sides can they resist each other long enough for Dane to heal? If they give in can they have any hope of a future?

Night Wolf is the first venture into shape shifting heroes for author Karen Erickson. Having read other work by Ms. Erickson, I was pleased to see she had no trouble moving into this popular genre. With her unique voice and style Ms. Erickson brings us a short but fulfilling tale of danger, lust and love. Dane has a presence from the second he arrives on the page, and it’s no wonder Amanda finds herself instantly attracted. His struggle to keep his distance when every part of him, including the animal hiding behind human form, is screaming for him to make Amanda his builds suspense as well as the sexual tension. With the rogue pack still looking for him, Dane must not only protect himself, but now that he’s had contact with Amanda, he most protect her. Amanda is an intelligent woman and the adding up of events are pointing in a direction she just doesn’t want to believe, but her attraction to Dane overshadows any fear or anxiety she has about him. Night Wolf does a great job of bringing two different worlds together and making you believe in the impossible. With a tension filled climax Ms. Erickson ends with a bang and has you wishing for more pages. Even at this short length Night Wolf is a satisfying read, and I’d have no qualms about picking up another book in this genre by Ms. Erickson.
