Davin’s Quest
Book Two in the Resonance Mates series, Davin’s Quest brings us back to an Earth that has been invaded by an unfeeling race of people that have wiped out almost all humanity. The survivors are all psychically gifted in some way and struggle to survive in any way possible.
The Alvians see humans as nothing but primitive Breeds and have been studying them as such. Eons ago the Alvians decided that they were too emotional and in order to evolve they needed to conquer emotions. Without emotions they cannot see the depravities they are committing against humanity, but one Alvian sees it and is disgusted. Davin is a Throwback, meaning he has the emotions that so many Alvians disparage. He has never been accepted because of this and has lived a truly uncomfortable life so far. But now that he knows about the humans and their emotions, he cannot help but hope to find acceptance amongst them, and dare he hope, love?
Callie has been raised with her brothers and sisters on a remote ranch. The daughter of a mixed family, sharing three fathers with her siblings, she knows of the Alvians through their interactions with the scientist Mara 12, but nothing can prepare her for the stranger that visited when she was a young woman.
Rick St. John and his father survived the original onslaught the Alvians threw at Earth, but were ultimately captured and split up. Rick has been in a horrible cell where the Alvians continue to torture humans in the interests of ‘science.’ When the opportunity to better his life and those of his fellow prisoners arises, he takes it; although warily.
These three people may hold the fate of humanity in their hands.
Well, I know that I have said it before, but I will say it again. Bianca D’Arc has done it again. She has followed up a book with an equally fabulous book! Davin’s Quest is a fantastic view of the Alvian society that we didn’t get in Hara’s Legacy. She brings back the O’Haras and we get to meet their children and watch them as they mature, Callie in particular. Ms. D’Arc once again brings a soft edge to the ménage a trois. While the fact that there is a three-person relationship in this book makes it an erotic book, the romance is very, very present. Both Davin and Rick love Callie deeply, and you can see it in each of their interactions with her. The struggles they face are difficult, but they all strive to overcome them with integrity and a view of right and wrong that sometimes is very hard to keep to. There were a number of peeks into Harry’s life and his psyche that didn’t overshadow the core story, but that sure made me want his story that much quicker. Bianca D’Arc is definitely an author that I repeatedly suggest to both friends and customers alike.
