Call of Temptation

Call of Temptation by Michelle Pillow is the third book of her Call of the Lycan series. This story continues from the first two with James the third of the O’Connell brothers. I do not recommend you read this one as a stand alone; much of what is happening started in one of the first two books and reading them first would make a lot more sense.

James O’Connell has been tasked with finding and bringing Meghan to justice for the betrayal of his clan. While he is searching for her she begins murdering human women making it even more vital that he catch and stop her. James tracks her down to a beach in Rhode Island and finds her attacking a human woman who surprisingly enough is fighting her. Unfortunately before James can get to them Meghan bites her and leaves her dying. James opts to try to save the women and Meghan escapes again. But this woman is different, she is still alive. Will she be able to survive the bite and successfully turn into a Lycan or will the turn kill her? James takes her somewhere safe to try to help her through the process. He learns her name is Claudia Hughes and as he spends time with her he becomes more and more attached to her. Will Claudia be able to survive the change and if she doesn’t will James survive her death? Meanwhile Meghan is still out there killing more humans. She must be stopped.

Call of Temptation is a great third book in Ms. Pillow’s Call of the Lycan series. Each story has built upon the earlier stories to culminate in this one. I have really enjoyed these tales. James is a quiet, very serious and stong man; he has to be, it is his job is to hunt down rogues for the clan and terminate them. Claudia is also something of a loner working as a computer consultant from her home; she is feisty, independent, and strong-minded. If she can survive she will make an excellent Lycan. In this story, James’ brothers Ian and Roark come back from spending time with their wives to help him find Meghan, so if you didn’t read their stories first, you should. Claudia has some slight psychic powers that come in to play in the story too. In fact if she hadn’t been listening to her psychic twinges she wouldn’t have been in Rhode Island to be attacked by Meghan so maybe her powers are not a good thing. I know Ms. Pillow has finished telling about the three O’Connell brothers but I would love to see more stories about the Lycan clans. Maybe she will do another tale with some of the interesting secondary characters or even introduce some more Lycans in another story. You can never have too many good Lycan stories!
