Change of Plans
Sara Tolberg, senator’s daughter and successful labor law lawyer, has a decision to make, should she marry Stephen Cafik and to make her father happy and settle for a comfortable marriage? In order to have space and time away from Stephen, Sara takes a Caribbean cruise. Mike Garson is also taking a cruise, the cruise that was to be his honeymoon before his fiancée eloped with another man. When Sara and Mike meet and sparks fly, both are surprised and afraid of their reaction to one another. Mike had not been in love with his fiancée but he thought he could trust her; they had been friends since childhood; Mike didn’t believe he could fall in love. Will Mike ever be able to trust another woman, Sara seems to be a nice lady but how can he tell? Sara is confused also, she has always believed that rush of passion for a man described in romance books was pure fiction so she can’t explain the passionate response she feels for Mike. Then someone begins threatening Sara and Mike isn’t going to let anyone hurt her; he will do whatever he has to do to protect her. Can Sara and Mike find out who is trying to hurt her and why before one of them is hurt? Can Sara and Mike learn to trust one another to get out of this dangerous situation uninjured?
Dee Lloyd’s Change of Plans is a delightfully exciting, romantic suspense tale. I love books with strong female characters and this book has more than one. Sara is no pushover and even when she is threatened she refuses to just stand around and be protected; she wants to be involved. Mike’s character is both charming and strong too. He has that alpha he-man personality but he is also surprisingly sensitive to Sara’s feelings and charmingly romantic also. There is obviously an undercurrent of things happening around Sara from the beginning of the book and the suspense carries all the way through to the end. The action and the romance are fast paced and captivate the reader’s imagination and take them along for the ride. Ms. Lloyd’s secondary characters add interest too and it is fun trying to figure out just who the bad guys/gals are. I enjoy Ms. Lloyd’s writing style and sense of fun and adventure and Change of Plans is another good book from Ms. Lloyd. I also enjoy spy/secret agent type adventures and there are some great characters to work with from this story. I would love to read some other stories with some of the good “guy” characters from this story as the main protagonist.
