Possession

The Silver Chains by Mathilde Madden is a prequel to The Silver Werewolf Trilogy. In this story Alfie Friday is an alpha werewolf with a pack of two, Misty his current girlfriend and Leon his friend. Alfie is having problems with turning into an out of control wolf if he has an orgasm. That makes life kind of difficult for a werewolf that is very sexual. Alfie has tried some alternatives to deny himself an orgasm yet allow him to participate in sexual relations but nothing is working very well. Alfie, Misty, and Leon decide to travel to South America in pursuit of an artifact called the “silver chain” that is supposed to be able to hold Alfie and keep him from turning into a berserk wolf. Will they be able to find the artifact and will it work? This is a cute story with an interesting twist from your normal werewolf story. I enjoyed it. There is a lot of sex since that is part of the reason for the story but there is a plot too.

Broken Angel by Madelynne Ellis – Blaze Makaresh is on the run from the Youkai demons who are fierce creatures that generally kill what they catch. As Blaze is fleeing he runs into a pair of Talons, demon hunters, named Asha and Jaku. Talons are not known for sparing anyone they consider a demon or anyone with even a taint of demon. Strange things begin happening to Blaze since his encounter with the Youkai, is he tainted now? Is it safe to trust and remain with Asha and Jaku? Why is Blaze so sexually drawn to Asha? This is a really creepy story and I mean that in a good way. The Youkai are demons that inhabit a human body so that they can have sex and eat flesh and they seem really evil but the Talons are not much better. The Talons are not demons but they are very inflexible and seem almost robotic. Blaze appears to be doomed no matter what happens. I liked the almost impossible situation Blaze finds himself in and it is interesting to see what he will do. I do not know if this short story is part of a larger series but I would enjoy reading more about the Talons, the Youkai, or Blaze and Asha; they are all interesting.

Falling Dancer by Anne Tourney – Kelda exorcist and part-time bartender. Kelda can identify Fallen Ones spirits who take over human bodies and push aside the resident soul. If she is quick enough she can exorcize the bad spirit and return the bodies soul so they can resume a normal life. This time the Fallen One is trying to suck the soul from one of her buddies to give itself power and Kelda intends to stop it. The boyfriend of the girl whose body the Fallen One is possessing is also very hot and Kelda wouldn’t turn down any offers from him either. But first she must do her job and get rid of the bad spirit and she doesn’t have much time. This was not my favorite story just because Kelda doesn’t seem to know who or what she wants. She has multiple lovers and each seem to be perfect for her while they are having sex, then she moves to the next one. The premise of this story is great. I love the exorcist job for a character and the idea of sending Fallen Ones back where they belong. I was just disappointed in Kelda’s uncertainty about what she wants in life. I think this is just a taste issue. The story is really pretty good if you don’t mind the multiple lovers and uncertainty in the main character.

Possession is an erotic anthology, just to make this clear. Each story is very different from the others and unique in its own way. All of the stories are well written. One was not my favorite but that was a taste issue and not really a reflection on the story. Overall this is a good anthology with a good mixture of stories to entertain anyone wanting to read erotic paranormal stories.
