Racing for the Shore

Jill Conner lives a calm unexciting life at the beach, swimming in the mornings and running her parents’ gift shop during the day. She hasn’t had good luck in picking men to date as she seems to find losers, so maybe she should just stop looking, well, maybe after she checks out the guy in the rental next door. Brian Donovan is a crew chief for the racecar circuit but since his boss retired he hasn’t been able to find another driver he respects as much and he doesn’t know what to do. He has come to the beach to spend some time away to figure out what he wants. What he doesn’t need is a woman right now, but the woman next door has his blood stirring. When these two get together there is chemistry but could there possibly be anything else; they live completely different lifestyles?

Racing for the Shore by Melanie Anderson is another cute romance about the people who work and live on the racing circuit. I really like all the romances set in the racing world that have been published lately and this one is a good one. Brian is a messed-up, dominating male who really doesn’t know where he is in life or where he wants to go next. Jill isn’t really any better; she’s been drifting along with the status quo instead of doing things she really wants to do. Neither of them really needs to be getting involved in a relationship until they get their own acts together but the chemistry between them has them becoming involved anyway. As generally seems to happen in the racing world, things develop rapidly and Brian and Jill are either on course for a spectacular crash or lifetime of passion. Time will tell! There are also lots of interesting secondary characters and a lot of tidbits about the racing world to add to the story. Several of these secondary characters are single so maybe we’ll see some more racing stories featuring some of them from Ms. Anderson in the future? I enjoyed Racing for the Shore and will watch for other stories from Ms. Anderson!
