The Fireborn Chronicles: Fireborn Found
Rael Pointe is the adopted son of the director of the Universal Government agency Dark Ops and a computer genius. Actually he is more than genius, it is like he is a part of and linked to all computers in the universe. He can get into any system without being discovered and take over control and he can do it in his head, he doesn’t have to physically link to the computer. In the first section of the book, the reader is told how he becomes a Dark Op agent himself. Then the next few sections are how he found and collected his team of agents for the final operation that is the last section of the book. It seems that from birth Rael has a destiny to fulfill and he hasn’t a clue what it is but he will do his best to complete his mission. The team he collects consist of an extreme psychic and empath, Ira Haze, that can not only sense emotions he can control them in other people, he can also enter and alter things in other peoples brains; a physician, Laynald Lockheim, and master of poisons, many different weapons, and strategies; another extreme psychic, Tristen, who is a beautiful as she is dangerous, she can control other peoples minds and make them obey her.
By the time I finished The Fireborn Chronicles: Fireborn Found by Mary Andrews, I decided I liked the story. I had a hard time getting started with the book though. The first few sections seem like a grouping of separate stories but all of the details that the reader learns in each section come together in the final section. The final section is where the meat of the story is. I found the jump from section to section disconcerting and confusing until I got to the final section. If you are experiencing this too just hang in there, the story does get good. The story has a great ending and also sets up a situation for a sequel. I would like to read a sequel if it is published. I did like the characters and the blend of skills to make the team is fascinating, it will be fun to see what Ms. Andrews will come up with for them next. This is one of those stories that just has a lot of setup before you get to the main story but it is worth it when you do get there!
