Cade Lawson is the Marshall for the small town of Peak’s Corner and ever since the death of his wife almost two years before; Cade has been raising his twin sons with the help of an older woman who lived nearby. Cade is tired of the lonely nights and the hectic days of running back and forth between his job and checking on his sons but hopefully that will all soon end as his mail order bride will arrive today.

Being the oldest of ten children, Maggie O’Malley has always longed for children of her own but her doctor said that it wasn’t to be, so when she put in to be a mail order bride and learned of Cade’s situation, she thought it would be a perfect match for them both. Now she can only hope that she and Cade match up as well in person as they have in their letters.


Cade’s Thanksgiving by Cia Leah is a heartwarming short story that was a delight to read. Set in Wisconsin during the 1800’s this story has the feel of a historical western without a lot of description that makes it perfect for the length of the book. The author has done a great job in crafting characters that fit right into the sweet feel she has created within this tale.

If you are looking for a charming short tale then you won’t want to miss Cade’s Thanksgiving.
