Lights, Camera…Monsters is the first book in the Monsters in Hollywood series by Lila Dubois. If this first book is any indication of how good the others are going to be then I am going to be on pins and needles waiting for them all to come out! This is a good story with characters who found a place in my heart.

A secret society of monsters is trying to infiltrate the human world. Luke has spent a lot of time studying humans. He decides the easiest place to “blend in” is in Hollywood. Lena is a bit jaded from her job as an upcoming Hollywood producer but Luke has a way of turning her head that others don’t. They begin a relationship and one thing leads to another. When she finds out he is a monster disguised as a human she isn’t as much put off as she is curious. Lena wants to help Luke find a place in the world for himself and his friends. She decides to help the monsters infiltrate society.

While the sex between Luke and Lena is hot and unusual, it gave me a shudder because the well-endowed monster could have seriously hurt her. I was a little freaked out by the idea of his talon going inside her but he was a gentle monster and obviously Lena wasn’t complaining so I got past that initial nervousness. Aside from the sex this couple shared all the things that regular couples share. Their dialogue was casual and friendly, even when they discussed things most people don’t ever talk about. The way they acted with Luke’s friends gave the story some realism. Lena is more adventurous than I am but Luke seems to be the perfect guy for her. I thought Ms. Dubois wrote an incredible story. I can’t wait to read the next one.
