I Could Just Eat You Up
Rayne Talum and her friend, Shelly, are baking cookies for an office party. After enjoying a bottle of wine or two, the two women exchange jokes about making gingerbread men with male body parts that they can "eat", so they build five gingerbread men with large endowments. After Rayne walks Shelly across the hall to her apartment and puts her to bed, she gets back to her own just in time to save one gingerbread man from being a burnt casualty. Rayne notices that not only is the cookie the only survivor, but it looks different. It had ears, wide shoulders and a stomach you could bounce a quarter off. Thinking she is suffering the results of too much wine, she goes to bed. During the night, a man suddenly appears in her bedroom that unbelievably has the build of the cookie. After a night of the best sex she ever had, she wakes up believing the whole thing was a dream, but there are crumbs in her bed, and the cookie has disappeared. Could she have built the man of her dreams only to lose him? Rayne suddenly gets the craving to bake cookies again. Maybe there's a way she can have her man and eat him too.
Beverly Rae has written a short, enjoyable story. There were so many ways to relate to this tale of Rayne and Shelly talking, baking and enjoying some wine together. Who would have thought of building the perfect man? The story had many laugh-out-loud moments, and these two women were very likable and believable. I Could Just Eat You Up gives a whole new meaning and reason for baking gingerbread men. If such a thing were possible, there would be many more women taking up baking as a hobby.
