A Month From Miami

Small town Tennessee girl Kaylee Walsh had big plans awaiting her in Miami. What she didn’t plan on, however, was her car heaving its last breaths just over the Florida state line. Not only was her transportation dead, but she’d discovered an unexpected hitchhiking package tied around her gas cap—its contents something the owner would be desperate to recover. When she finds herself stranded and broke, she accepts an offer from a sexy mechanic—stay in Perrish, Florida and watch his daughter until school resumes in exchange for free repairs on her car and a place to stay. It seems like a fair trade at the time until she loses something…her heart.

Rick Braddock’s faith in women walked right out the door along with his ex-wife, leaving him alone to raise their daughter while the former Mrs. Braddock pursued her dream of a big city life—a life of glamour, excitement and wealth. A life without him and the child they created together. When Kaylee Walsh walks into his garage he is immediately taken by the southern girl’s charms. When his babysitter leaves him in the lurch Kaylee seems like the perfect solution…until he falls for her. When trouble follows her to his small town he discovers how important she has become to him. Can he dare hope this small town girl will abandon her dreams of a life in Miami and stay with him and his daughter in Perrish? Or will she turn out to be just like his ex-wife—leaving for bigger and better things and taking his heart with her?

A Month From Miami by Barbara Meyers is a sweet love story where two people discover what they have been looking for in a most unlikely situation. Ms. Meyers has a gift for characterization, especially in her depiction of Kaylee. I, for one, will never think of chewing gum the same way again. Kaylee’s quirky habits brings a smile to my face as I remember the time I spent getting to know her. The author pulls at your heartstrings with the relationship that develops not only between the hero and heroine, but with Rick’s daughter as well. A Month From Miami is truly a treasure; an entertaining, heart-warming , engaging read. My only disappointment was reaching the end. I will be on the lookout for more titles by this talented author.
