Angelica Mortis is back in this second installation in Michele Bardsley’s Demon Hunters, Inc. series. Her partner, Graddie, is still healing from a demon attack that occurred in the first book and her unwanted guardian, Roc, is still tempting Angelica to carnal delights and new heights of anger. Angelica is still racing against the High King of Hell to collect all the demon gifts first and her parents are up to something and are avoiding Angelica.

Ironically enough, Angelica Mortis is the daughter of a legendary Demon Hunter and a half demon. Her best friend and partner is a drag queen and she is being hounded by the High King of Hell. She can’t avoid seeing her council appointed Guardian, Roc, and she can’t stop thinking about him when he’s not there. She is a tough as nails, contrary woman who only lets her guard down with a few people. Roc is great as a compliment to Angelica’s almost abrasive attitude. He refuses to let her run over him and gives as good as he gets. The secondary characters of Sean and Daniel and their relationship was a short but integral part of the story. Each installment in this new series brings about a little bit more information about Angelica and my fascination with her character continues to grow. My only complaint was that there wasn’t enough of Graddie. We’ve only been given a small taste of him but what little bit we’ve seen has been delightful. Michele Bardsley has another winner on her hands with this series.
