Pack Mentality: Natural Selection

Ryan Grimsky is a park ranger, werewolf, and a loner. The only family he has is his lover Loyal, a werebear. So when a new pack comes to town Ryan can’t help but be curious and worried. Will the new pack accept his relationship with Loyal, or will they be like the other packs he’s met and reject them?

Natural Selection is the fourth book in Julia Talbot’s Pack Mentality series. After the events in Big Bad Wolf, Kamen has moved his small pack to Mesa, Colorado. He picked the location because he thought there were no other weres in the area. He was wrong. Ryan is deeply in love with his mate Loyal, but being a pack animal he misses being with his kind. The dynamics of Loyal and Ryan’s relationship were very interesting with Ryan being almost frisky and carefree as a puppy, and Loyal being just that, thoughtful, solid and loyal above all things. It was a treat to see old favorites interacting with two new characters that quickly wormed their way into my heart. Natural Selection is a very short story, but Julia Talbot has succeeded in packing in a delightful read with heart warming emotion and just the right amount of spice to keep the heat level at a slow burn.
