Terran Hunter Emily had crash landed on the planet Shavin three years before, and had survived those years only because the Xarit—a race that looked like a combination of teddy bear and spider, and whose blood was poisonous to Terrans—took her in. In return, she agreed to become Chief Vinca’s honoured wife and do the hunting to feed his large family. But Emily was a precog—she had visions of the future—and she knew that the Alliance was going to send someone to rescue her. In fact, she saw that there would be two rescuers and that they would become her mates. Could she survive this poisonous planet long enough to fulfill her vision?

This is another great story that takes place in the author’s Alliance universe. I have to admit, when I read the synopsis, I was wondering how the author could make this a romance, since the first husband is poisonous to the heroine. I was quite impressed with the plotting that makes the whole thing work. Author Viola Grace specializes in stories that involved multiple cultures and the ways those cultures meet and combine, which to me is the essence of science fiction. The main and secondary characters are interesting and realistically complex. The m/m/f ménage love scenes were both erotic and emotionally satisfying. All in all, this was an excellent and entertaining read!
