Butterfly House
Sabrina Osterling is a health freak. She doesn’t eat red meat or drink alcohol, but she does drink herbal tea and allows herself the luxury of coffee. When she sees the ad for a musty, dusty and guaranteed haunted house, she eagerly heads to the real estate office. Jackson Rutledge is more than intrigued when he sees the ad for the house with ghosts. He is enthusiastic when he arrives at the real estate office only to find someone else is interested in the house. The sports writer never thought anyone as beautiful as Sabrina would insist upon purchasing a house with a reputation of ghosts. While Sabrina appears to be a bit uptight, Jackson has more of a laid-back personality. She is more fascinated in ghosts and doesn’t understand why a man like Jackson would even wish to live in a place that is haunted. After looking over the place, both agree it is perfect for two people who don’t get along. They each throw in their money to purchase the house, Sabrina taking the east wing and Jackson the west. Almost like the sisters before who had lived there in their own wing, exhibiting their own personalities. Neither anticipated the silent feelings that would interact between them, awakening some quiet desires, while living an unforgettable experience when poltergeist manifestations set into play.
I love the Butterfly House. Jackson and Sabrina are wonderful characters and seeing the way they connect quietly with each other is amazing. The moment they wanted to purchase the haunted house, I was hooked. There is romance and suspense, while the reader sits glued wondering just what scary thing will happen next. The message on the computer screen, along with Sabrina and the face in the window, sent chills through me. T.K. Sheils pens a nail-biting read that engages the reader and keeps the pages rapidly turning. He creates unforgettable characters that stick with the reader. His descriptions of the house and the wings of the house, not to mention all the scary effects, is outstanding. The ghostlike incidents were quite effective on this reader.
