Sangerian Rose
Sangerian Rose takes the reader to a time in the not-so-distant future. The year is 2075 and the issues that enforcement officials battle to ensure the safety of people are different. Vampires, and their regard for the rules of vampire/human interaction, decide whether or not peace or war will reign between humans and vampires. When a horrible crime is discovered, Killian, an FBI agent, arrives on the scene with her team of experts. She and Dacon Sangerian, who is responsible for keeping the Sangerian Clan secure, must work together to find out who or what is behind the crime that has everyone unsettled.
I enjoyed this story immensely. When Dacon first shows up in Killian’s apartment she is not interested in him, or in his helping her with the investigation. She is working with Byron, and doesn’t want any help from Dacon. But Dacon won’t be deterred. He wants to find fault with her, as well, but can’t. From the first moment he sees her, he sees her beauty. I liked the way they struggle to put personal feelings aside and solve the crime. Their mounting attraction cannot be denied and the tension that builds adds a new level to every interaction. There was one scene in the morgue that left me feeling squeamish but other than that this was a very interesting story. The way these two characters are forced to acknowledge their feelings, which are so different from their initial meeting, is on-target for this story. Rae Monet has written a beautiful tale. Well done!
