The Guardians
Madelyn Mason is a Guardian, a member of an elite group of supernaturals who protect humankind from things that go bump in the night (and during the day for that matter). Mads is protected by a plethora of men who both treat her with kid gloves and cow to her power. She is attracted to her roommate, movie star Brady Devens, but the laws of the Guardians prevent her from exposing her past and her feelings to him.
Brady knows that Mads is his mate. However, she shows no interest or inclination to take their relationship beyond their mostly platonic one. Brady is not privy to her secrets but he will do anything to make sure that she is his forever.
The Guardians was an interesting and exciting book from start to finish. Mads was a kick-ass heroine with a wry sense of humor and a take-no-prisoners attitude. She brought a lot of action to the story as well as some very very cool fighting scenes. I have to confess that at points, the plot seemed very convoluted with the large cast of secondary characters. It was almost hard to keep track of who was who but each of them played a very important role in getting the hero and heroine together, or at least, in adding a bit of spice and conflict.
The chemistry between Mads and Brady was undeniable. I was wholeheartedly rooting for these two to get together and when they did, sparks (and clothes) flew. Ms. Roth always writes scorching hot love scenes and here was no exception.
The Guardians was the first book of a forthcoming series from Mandy Roth and I’m waiting impatiently until the next action-packed installment.
