Nathan and Lena have history. Childhood friends, then adolescent petting sessions that helped them save their virginity and finally one fantastic college summer where they took each other’s virginity. Yes they have lots of history. And all of these events combined are the foundation for their mutual love, attraction and devotion.

Nathan has been in a committed relationship with Armand for well over two years. He has not had the luxury of growing up in a ploy-relationship environment as Lena and Armand have. When Nathan realizes that what’s missing from his relationship is actually Lena, he decides to wait for the right moment to discuss his feelings with his long time friend. But Lena has plans of her own, and won’t wait for opportunity to come knocking.

Shifting Passions by Xakara is about love and knowing what is needed to create a happy and content union. Each of the characters is strong and brings something unique to both the book and their joint relationship. The love making sizzles and encompasses you in tantalizing heat, but is not the main focus throughout the story. I was a bit disappointed not to get a glimpse of at least one of the characters being able to shift at some point in the novel. But as a whole, the story is wonderfully written and I was very pleased with my introduction to Xakara and look forward to reading more from her in the future.
