Tarot Card Anthology: Synchronicity Volume 2

Tarot Card Anthology – Synchronicity Volume 2 is the second book of a series of stories about people who’s life is about to get off kilter if they don’t make the right choice and soon. Abigail Montgomery has twenty-one people, one for each card in her tarot deck, who will come to her shop to have their fortune read and leave with the knowledge that they must make an important decision or else. You do not have to have read the first volume, but I am glad that I did. The initial setup occurs in the first volume.

In the The Hanged Man by Tina Bendoni, Eric Harris hates flying, and when the lady next to him on the plane reads the tarot cards to ease his discomfort, he is intrigued but unconvinced. She pulls the Hanged Man card and tells him it means he is going into a situation with his mind already made up and that he needs to look at the information he has from another direction before he makes a mistake. Eric is on his way the Lionnet Hotel that his company has acquired to fire the night manager, Vickie Johnson. Something is off at the hotel. The day manager regularly sends informative emails, but the night manager only occasionally sends a report. If she does, it is usually to complain. So does Eric have all the facts about Vickie or should he do more investigating for himself? And when Eric meets the tiny, beautiful, Hispanic employee Tori, he seems to forget all about why he is at the hotel.

In The Lovers by Michelle Hasker, Annabelle Friedman’s ex-fiancé left her for another woman so she is on her way for a kind of a compensation vacation, all expense paid trip to Hawaii (paid by her ex-fiancé). While on the plane she encounters Abigail, the tarot reader. and has her fortune read. Her card is The Lover’s, and Abigail said in Annabelle’s case it meant that she was about to have to reevaluate everything she thought about love. She would find love whether she wanted it or not, and it would be someone she has already known for a long time. Luke Phillips is her ex-fiancé’s second in command, and Annabelle has always found him attractive. But he is fling material, not life mate material, right? Luke has also turned up on Annabelle’s vacation, but does he stand a chance with Annabelle?

Sonya’s a good cop who arrested the wrong kid and has been fired in Strength by Tina Bendoni. While Sonya tries to decide what to do now, she visits her friend’s tarot card reader, Abigail, on a lark. Abigail drew the Strength card from a deck she said she used specifically for Sonya, and she gave Sonya the card saying it would mean more latter and for her to calm the beast with kindness. When she is attacked by five young men and rescued by a wolf that after being stabbed turns into a gorgeous naked man, she wonders about the tarot reading? Could this werewolf be what the tarot reader was referring too or is she in danger from him?

In Temperance by Michelle Hasker, Tayla Stevens dated and loved Hunter Johnson, and then one day he told her he had a job in the city and was leaving. Tayla was destroyed not only did she love Hunter, but she was friends with his family, his mother had been like a mother to her. Now Hunter is coming home with the title of playboy of the year and probably to announce his engagement. Ms. Johnson has hired Tayla to do the food for his coming home party. How will Tayla survive it? When she saw a tarot reader a few weeks ago, she had drawn the Temperance card and told Tayla that meant that things that seemed like irreconcilable differences may not be as they appear. Could there be a chance left with Hunter, it sure doesn’t look like it?

In The Chariot by Tina Bendoni, Angela, Tony and Jamie are best friends even though she is dating Jamie. Then one night both guys let her know they both want her, but what does she want? Angela is conflicted, what would happen if she had both men? Would their relationship be the same? Could it change for the better? Or were they risking what they had? While Angela was trying to figure out what she wanted, she went to her friend’s tarot card reader for her fortune. Abigail the tarot reader drew The Chariot card and explained that it meant she needed to balance her conflicting emotions and either balance her relationship with the two men or chose one or neither guy. What will Angela decide? What if what Angela wants isn’t what Tony or Jamie want?

In The Fool by Michelle Hasker, Cade’s been dreaming about Andrea Monroe, but she seems to hate him. Now she has accepted another man’s proposal, and Cade just needs to get away from it all. He goes to his friend Becca’s haunted cabin, but he just dreams about Andrea even more. Then he falls and sprains his ankle and who should appear but Andrea. With a little ghostly help, Andrea needs to follow up on her fortune from the tarot reader she visited. When Astrid visited her mother’s friend, Abby the tarot reader, Abby drew the Star card for Astrid. In The Star by Tina Bendoni, Abby told Astrid that The Star card in her case meant that tonight something will happen that will change the course her life is on, and that whatever decision she makes will affect the rest of her life. Then Astrid is in a car wreck, and when she comes to, she is at a strange man’s home. The man’s name is Jared, and Astrid is immediately drawn to him. Is the decision she must make about Jared? Is Jared a good man or someone planning to harm her?

Crystal Neuberg walks in on her fiancé Todd and her male personal assistant Alex having sex in The Tower by Michelle Hasker. She is devastated by the betrayal and then she remembers that the tarot reader had drawn The Tower card in her reading and predicted the betrayal. She went on to tell Crystal that after the misery she would face that something new and better will arise, and that someone she didn’t think she could trust would illustrate forgiveness and help her move on. As Crystal is fleeing from Todd and Alex, she encounters Jason a former friend. Crystal had abandoned her friendship with Jason when Todd came around, but she sure could use a friend now. Can Jason help her deal with the betrayal? Crystal has missed Jason’s friendship can he forgive her and be her friend again?

I really enjoyed most of this anthology. This is the second book with the next 8 people that Abigail Montgomery does a one card tarot reading for. Each story is unique and interesting. I was surprised when one story contained a ménage and another story had two men having a relationship, and even though that is not my taste I still like the whole project. All of the stories are erotic in nature and all are about the things that occur around the main character getting the tarot card reading from Abigail. There is a volume 3, and I intend to read it too. This is a fun and entertaining set of anthologies!
