Bella Rushdale is embroiled in a ménage a trois with Vaughan, Marquis of Pennerley and Lucerne, Viscount Marlinscar. One morning, she finds her relationships are torn apart when Vaughan leaves the threesome without an explanation. Bella takes it upon herself to find and bring him back to the fold. Whether Vaughan wants to return or not and how Bella tries to accomplish her task is fully detailed within the story.

Bella, Vaughan and Lucerne are extremely complex characters. They are fully realized and the author goes in-depth with their character development. Bella is the focal point as she is driven to find Vaughan when he leaves. It is her determination to hold together the tenuous bonds among them that drives this story. It goes without saying that Bella is a very strong woman. Lucerne and Vaughan are featured but it is Vaughan who appears to the perfect match for her. The author does a masterful job of resolving their story and readers will be quite satisfied with it.

Phantasmagoria is a compelling story that will keep readers riveted. There is a very high level of eroticism within this book especially among the three of them. If you do not enjoy ménage a trois, then this is not for you. Upon some research, this reader found that this is a sequel to an earlier book, A Gentleman’s Wager, which will be re-released later this year. This reader didn’t quite understand why the earlier book wasn’t released first and then this one, as it would have given the reader even greater understanding of their relationship. However having read Phantasmagoria, this reader will have to purchase, A Gentleman’s Wager, when it is available.
