A Week from Sunday
The day of her father’s funeral, Adrianna Moore is still in shock and unable to believe that he is gone. When the last of the mourners are leaving her home, her father’s business partner Richard Pope stays behind and informs Adrianna that her father left him in charge of her future and all of the money that was supposed to be left for her. As Adrianna tries to take this information in, Richard tells her that he will take care of her as her father wanted, but only after they have been married and that he will be back a week from Sunday with the preacher.
Adrianna does not want anything to do with Richard and refuses to marry him, so she takes what few things that she can get into her father’s car and starts driving. She has no idea of where to go but drives until a storm causes her to lose control of her car and crash into an oncoming truck.
A Week from Sunday is an enchanting tale that was a pleasure to read. The story takes place during the 1930’s, and it was great to read about the time period when life appeared so much simpler than today.
Adrianna ends up in a small town where she has to stay until she works off the money to pay for the damage she caused, but where there are people that care about her and are willing to look out for her along with the ones who would wish her harm. I really liked how Adrianna stood up for herself and was willing to do whatever needed to be done despite her sheltered life.
A Week from Sunday a sure fire hit for Ms. Garlock that also packs a punch in the romance department. If you love a good romance then you will want to pick up this book! 5 Angels.
