After months of being turned down for financing for his new coffee shop, Ty Weston knows that Ellison is his last shot but Ellison’s money comes with a requirement that Ty hire a woman he’s never met before.

When Ty meets Jenny Vaughn for the first time he thinks she is a bit eccentric but is struck by her beauty and her large guard dog Baby who knocks him to the floor. He has hope that they will be able to work together and would like to explore a relationship with her if it isn’t for the wedding ring she wears.

Jenny is extremely careful when it comes to men. After she was attacked by a co-worker, she starts wearing her mother’s wedding ring to keep any men with ideas at bay, but after meeting Ty she wishes that she hadn’t added the ring as security and would like to see what could happen between them. She only wishes that her dog liked Ty as much as she does.

Grounds For Love by Maureen Mackey is a typical sweet romance story without many surprises. The characters both have their misunderstandings that keep them apart at the beginning and Jenny has the mistrust that came from once being attacked. I enjoyed this story but felt that the characters were a bit one-dimensional. Some of the dialog between Jenny and Ty wasn’t needed and that kept if from feeling real.

If you’re looking for a charming romance with likable characters and a quirky cast then Grounds For Love would be a good choice.
