The Regent’s Knight

The Regent’s Knight by J.M. Snyder is a homoerotic historical romance.

Prince Amery Llewellen is heir to the throne of Pharr, but being the next in line for the throne is not all it's cracked up to be. Amery was always an unusual child who loved running through the castle getting into mischief. When he was older, he met some boys in training to be knights and he became fast friends. One boy Tovin caught Amery’s attention with his irreverent responses and friendly nature. As Amery and Tovin grew up, their feelings became much more than friends, but Amery is next in line to be king. He must marry to produce an heir for the throne. They are forced to act as enemies whenever they are near each other. All the subterfuge isn’t what Amery wants, but the alternative is to give up the throne, if the advisers will allow him. To make matters even more difficult, the land is under siege from invaders. Amery has to make some difficult decisions about what is most important to him, Tovin or his allegiance to Pharr. Will Amery and Tovin find a way to be together or will their duties to Pharr condemn them to be apart forever?

Ms. Snyder has created an interesting story with historical significance that has many parallels to the modern world. The idea of choosing love or social status is still seen today. Amery and Tovin are two very unique men who were able to look beyond social status to see the real man inside of each other. Amery has always thumbed his nose at convention and finds the beauty that lies inside Tovin. Tovin has always protected Amery beyond what was ever expected of him, even though all he wanted was for Amery to choose him. Together Amery and Tovin built a love that has weathered many difficulties, but soon life will test not only their love for each, but maybe even their lives too. Thanks go to Ms. Snyder for another great story.
