Held captive by the Moribund Company for his programming skills, Aubrey is dying to escape, literally. He is rescued by a Skeldi prince and given the option to genetically alter himself or die. He decides to live without truly knowing the cost. Seht has quickly and irrevocably fallen for the young Aubrey and in saving his life has doomed him to a fate similar to the one he was willing to die to escape. Before Seht can whip his new pet into shape, a secret from Aubrey's past tears them apart. Now he is hunted by mercenaries and a love that will cross space and time to reclaim him, but Aubrey is his own man now, and he will bow to no one.

Morgan Hawke possesses a rare gift and Lost Star is another brilliant example of that. Her fans will not be disappointed by this latest installment to the Interstellar Service & Discipline series. After being completely blown away by Victorious Star, I wasn't sure that she could produce another star that would shine that bright, but she has delivered and then some. Ms. Hawke manages to effortlessly spin a tale that is disturbing, thought provoking, even shocking, and yet it's endearing and heartfelt. The chemistry between Aubrey and Seht is explosive and addictive. There is such a gauntlet of emotions in this story, that I almost felt drained after I read the last page. The only thing that Lost Star left me wanting was more of this incredible, unique and creative universe. I can't help but admit that I read it again immediately after I finished it. I loved every word of it.
