The Truth About Daydreams
Lexi Harper is no longer a child but a grown-up tax paying adult. When her mother invites her to a barbecue, at the Malloy's, Lexi has one thing on her mind, eye-gazing at Brad Malloy. For years she has had a crush on the man of her daydreams. Four years later, she is no longer the teenager from Fodders Creek who fooled around with Brad, or even his younger brother, Sammy. Now she is mature, and ready to show the Malloy's, Lexi is here. All set to see Brad, and get those tingling shivers again, she is shocked when Sammy pulls her into his arms and welcomes her, sending incredible sensations through her body. Funny, that always happened with Brad's touch. Sammy had changed, too, and matured in good ways. When she greets Brad, and they share a dance, she feels no sizzle, no pizzazz that she once felt years ago. Sammy, the old friend from her childhood, had awakened the woman inside. While watching Brad mingle with the other ladies at the barbecue, Lexi knew he hadn't really changed, but Sammy was another story. Sammy is not shy when it comes to emitting his true feelings for Lexi. Now it is up to Lexi to respond or will she continue clinging to a crush on Brad?

I loved this story. There is much realism behind the words, where many can relate to having a crush on someone that often is only a crush and nothing more. Sometimes what we really want is standing so close it takes time to actually realize the truth. Donna Michaels pens a read that I thoroughly enjoyed. She even makes the barbecue and all the aroma of the food cooking come alive, and allows the reader to share in the festivities. I love how she incorporates Lexi's voice throughout. The message rings loud and true, and I would love to see an addition to Sammy's story. I found The Truth about Daydreams a gratifying read.
