Red Alert by Lynne Connolly is the first book in the Storm series.

Megan's world is about to shatter for a second time. She has been having consistent dreams about a man, Ricardo, being held captive and tortured. She is at the clinic waiting to find the results of the testing she has undergone. While waiting, she sees a picture of a dragon on a TV screen and wishes she could sees one for herself. Dr. Jones tells her they want to perform other tests, but the way he questions her about her dreams and the way they keep watching her make Megan question what exactly their interest is. At the same time, a voice in her head gives her an alternative to leave the clinic, but she has to make a choice. She chooses the unknown which changes her life and sends her to a shape shifter dragon, Sandro. After a fascinating flight on Sandro's back, Megan begins to learn about the struggle of a group called Storm that is made up of talents, those with special abilities. These talents are struggling against the IRDC, International Research and Development Clinic, who are determined to learn what makes the talents tick, by any means possible. Megan learns that she is the only person who can contact Ricardo, Sandro's brother, and STORM needs her help. As Megan and Sandro spend more time together, their relationship quickly evolves to something much more intimate. How will Megan find her way in her new life? What does Sandro exactly want from Megan, her abilities or possibly something more personal? Will STORM succeed in saving Ricardo or will IRDC win in the end?

Ms. Connolly has created an incredible first book in her Storm series. It is amazing to watch Megan's response the first time she saw Sandro in dragon form. The visual descriptions of Sandro's dragon form bring it to life for the reader. I enjoyed learning about each of the different talents, dragons, jaguars, vampires, ect., and how they each used their talents to the good of the group. The love between Megan and Sandro flamed to life quickly, but will there be time for them before tragedy strikes? This story is well written and ensnares the reader from the very start. I for one will be waiting for the next book in the Storm series. Thanks go to Ms. Connolly for another phenomenal read.
