Love at First Stake
Savannah Marshall is the newest slayer to emerge from the Slayer of the Holy Order of St. Vlad. Her first night out, she comes across a vampire. Savannah has a problem with the vampire…one, he just won’t die, no matter how much she stabs the strake into his heart and two, this vampire is so sexy that he makes Savannah want to jump his undead bones. Not a good thing when you are a vampire slayer who is suppose to exterminate vampires.

Donatello Demarcus Ravell, a vampire cop with the Vampire Central Intelligence was hunting down a vampire when some bad luck happened upon him. He almost had the other vampire til she came along. Donatello has no time for a blonde bimbo want-a-be vampire slayer who believes Buffy the Vampire Slayer is real and what Ann Rice writes is true.

There has been a recent slaying of humans. Just recently a sixth body has been discovered. Savannah’s boss informs Savannah that she has two days to find and stop the vampire responsible for the recent killings, or he is bringing in her brother to take care of the deed. Savannah teams up with Donatello to track down the vampire.

Love at First Stake is book one in a new series by J. Morgan called The Love Bites series. I discovered Mr. Morgan a while back when I read one of his other comedic vampire books and just fell in love with his writing. He has a wonderful sense of humor, and all of his characters have this great witty, sarcastic banter. Savannah and Donatello make a good pair. I mean, have you ever met a vampire who was allergic to human blood? Plus it can be hard to maintain a bad guy image when your first name reminds the slayer of one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Also, note to self, always make sure when you are going for the holy water that it is really holy water, or you will end up spritzing a vampire with Brittany Spears “Curious” perfume. If these comments don’t make you want to run out and read this book, then you are a lost cause. Mr. Morgan will keep you laughing til the very end. I give this book the highest rating there is with a five angel recommend read!
