Nowhere Man
Bobby Kendrick has been looking for Dr. Parley Taylor for years. The man’s books have influenced Bobby in his chosen life path, and he wants to meet the man responsible. But the last thing he expects to find is his literary muse hidden away in a basement apartment seemingly shut off from the rest of the world. Can Bobby draw Parley back out into the world, or will Parley’s wit and sharp edged tongue drive the young man away?

I really enjoyed Nowhere Man. Of course, that is nothing less than what I have come to expect when I read a story by this writing team. Jamie Craig is one of those names that I automatically buy; I don’t need to read the blurb to know that I will enjoy the story. Nowhere Man could easily fall into the creepy category by having one of the main characters be an obsessed fan who hunts his idol down like a stalker, but the authors have managed to tread that thin line with ease and instead have created a story of redemption and second chances. Bobby Kendrick is a character that I can relate to. He has read something that has completely shaped his world view and wants to meet the man responsible for this wisdom. The fact that the author has become a reclusive, curmudgeonly man with a biting sarcastic wit takes him aback but not for long. I loved how the story showed the prickly edginess of Dr. Parley Taylor while still allowing glimpses into his underlying psyche. It’s easy to become enthralled by an author’s works to the point that the reader forgets that there is a real person behind them, and that the author is not the sum total of what they have written. I give this one 5 angels.
