Captivity
Lord Adolpho Serratin of the Kalamadur Oasis heard of the capture of “the wild thing”, a winged man who lived in the jungle outside of Bendar City, and decided he had to add him to his collection. Adolpho, known for his negotiating skills, has decided to woo and tame his new slave instead of beating him into submission. Named Orion Birdman by his new master, Orion was unsure of what to expect. However, the ministrations under his master’s hand proved to make Orion wonder at his state of mind, and the possibility of being drugged to dampen his desire to escape. In a year’s journey, we will witness Orion’s transformation, and glimpse at just how deeply their relationship will form a lasting bond.
Captivity by Adrianna Dane is yet another demonstration of the author’s ability to bring a thought provoking and entertaining story for our reading pleasure. There were times where I questioned Orion’s actions and ability to maintain his affections for his master. Adolpho was not in a position to truly offer a relationship to Orion, but he could not see his life without him by his side. In a society somewhat like our own with prejudices and social latter, Orion is among the elite and has to act the part while away from his Oasis. By the end of the book, both men had me viewing them through a different outlook. Their relationship, while not truly unique, does have some fascinating situations thrown on them that will test their ability to trust and care for one another.
