They’re back! Imagine my utmost surprise and joy to find that the newest in this fabulous series was all mine for the reviewing. It is no secret that I love this series. I think it is wonderfully written and filled with fantastic characters who engage the heart and mind. The author’s acerbic wit shines through in each moment, even the tragic ones. It is like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. So, after singing my profuse and enthusiastic praise I have to get down to the meat of the review. There is a bit of something for everyone in this one. Epic battles, mystery, intrigue, drama, comedy, romance, you name it, it’s got it. Is this a great book? Yes, it is. Is it as awesome as the previous two? Well….here is where I run into a problem. That’s not to say it wasn’t supreme, it was, it was just that something bothered me about this one, some elusory element that I can’t name. This has been a hard review for me to write; as a matter of fact I’ve delayed and delayed until the deadline fast approaches. After my husband watched me slam things around for a bit, he asked what was wrong. After explaining the best I could he simply and effortlessly summed it up for me. “Ah, book grief”. That is it exactly. I’m miserable because I hate the idea of them not being back to entertain me. I’m selfish, I’m greedy, and I love the entire crew and I don’t want them to go away! So I’m praying for there to be more in this universe where these beloved characters can visit their fans for many more stories to come.
