Zeven Ways to Kill Your Lover
Zeven is a werewolf, and also an assassin. He has been hired to kill a target said to be planning to expose werewolves to the world. It was suppose to be simple, but when the mark turns out to be the only woman he has ever loved, things change. Ten years ago Harley's family was killed by Zeven's clan, and she has been running ever since. Now they are back together, and Zeven has to find a way to keep her safe from a new threat, and to keep her from running from him again.
Zeven Ways to Kill Your Lover is a pretty typical werewolf story. The characters are a little inconsistent, which was a little bothersome. Zeven was the omega of his clan, and then he turned around and killed them all. He is now a hit man yet at times he seems like a big softy. It is hard to really see who he is. Immediately after barging into Harley's house, these two come together like they were never apart. After ten years, I expected there to be more tension between them, but they seemed to get over that hurdle pretty quickly. Harley is also a little confusing at times. She has been running for her life for ten years now, and with a new hit out on her she plans to leave right away. Yet when Zeven mentions leaving she wants to stay in town. I was never really able to get a feel for either of them. The villain of the story was a nice constant, even if the ending was a little anti-climatic. Overall, L. Shannon has written a story that is good if you want to relax with a simple paranormal tale.
