Seventh Heaven
Free spirit, flower child Lilah runs a record store with her best friend Val. Every chance she gets, she visits the bar down the street where the handsome, Harley riding James works as a bartender. She orders a drink, struggles to find things to say, and then leaves without him ever knowing how much she likes him.

One Thursday, Lilah finds out James is shipping out for Vietnam on Monday. She knows that if she doesn't tell him now how she feels, he'll walk out of her life and never return. She gathers up her courage and approaches him, giving him a choker she made. It uses a silver ankh, the Egyptian symbol of eternity. It is for luck, she tells him, but to her, it means much more than that.

Written in present tense, Seventh Heaven is a wonderful story about overcoming obstacles. Lilah has to overcome her shyness and fear of rejection to pursue the love of her life. James has even bigger issues to overcome before, during, and after the war. This is a touching, three hanky read. Seventh Heaven is an uplifting romance set in a turbulent, unique time period. I did not want it to end.
