Kim is an eighteen-year-old transgender, a young man living in a female's body. He is in his final three months of high school and wonders each day if he will make it without being a victim of a gay bashing. At least his home life is better, his mother is supportive and has finally agreed to allow him to undergo hormone therapy.

Dash is a first year university gay student looking to join a coven. When he approaches one of his lecturers, he is brought into the lives of Kim and his mother Helen through her coven. Dash is attracted to Kim, but when Kim reveals his secret, Dash does not handle the situation well and now has to face the fact the he could lose his true love.

Every now and then you can read a novel and forget that you're reading a work of fiction because the characters reach out and touch you so profoundly. For me, Circle of Change was one of those novels. Laney Cairo has delivered a story of a young man's struggle of living day after day in the wrong body and the fear of being a victim of a gay bashing. With the support of his mother and her finally agreeing to allow him to undergo hormone treatment, Kim's life is about to change in many ways.

This is a touching story of first love and the pains that go along with that. Dash comes into Kim's life through his mother's coven. The attraction is strong for both of them, but, when Kim tells Dash his secret it is too much for the young university student and he runs. It is this reaction that brings life to the story. Much of the story is based around Kim, but we also get a look into the lives of his mother Helen and her coven members. It is easy to see that Ms. Cairo has done her homework on her story content, and she has written a story that is both enjoyable and real to life. This is the first time I've read one of Ms. Cairo's novels and it won't be the last.

Be warned Circle of Change is a story with explicit male/male sex scenes.
