Secret Admirer
Wes Donovan is a major geek. Clumsy and wearing a pocket protector, he does everything he can to get noticed by Blake Kircherner. Finally Wes comes up with what he thinks is a fool proof plan. When Blake takes Wes under his wing after he loses another baseball game for them, Wes thinks Blake has finally noticed him. But Blake thinks Wes is in love with their team baseball coach, Clay, plus Blake just feels sorry for the poor nerdy guy. Can Wes convince Blake that he is the one for him?

Who doesn’t love the nerd and the jock story? Wes’s nerdy persona was well written and believable. His Clumsy stunts were laugh-out-loud hilarious, especially the scene in the gym. Although, I personally found Wes’s initial behavior regarding Blake to be borderline obsessive, but I think we all can relate to some degree. Blake comes across as a muscle bound jock who only thinks about the outer package, until he starts to help Wes and does it out of the goodness of his own heart. Only then does he endear himself to the reader. Although I would have liked to be in Blake’s head a bit more, find out what motivates him and not just with his physicality, Ashley Ladd’s characterization was what kept the pages turning. This was a solid 4 Angels for me! I definitely recommend Secret Admirer!
