SEALed with a Promise
Navy SEAL Caleb Delaude had a hard childhood. His biological father abandoned him and refused to help as his mother was dying. He vows to kill the man he believes is his father if he ever comes face to face with him. Now he has found the perfect way to get close. Emmie Caddington is the way into Senator Calhoun's life. He thinks he'll use her to get his revenge, but soon he starts to have real feelings for her. Caught between revenge and Emmie, Caleb has to learn to move on from his past if he wants to have a future.

SEALed with a Promiseby Mary Margret Daughtridge is not the typical alpha male romance. The problems come from within the characters, especially Caleb, as they learn to get over their past. Caleb, however, is the typical alpha male. He is dominating, arrogant, and he looks at everything with the eyes of a soldier. One thing I appreciated was that he knew he was most of those things, and he understood why. He shows his gentle side to Emmie and he took care of her without having to. Emmie is someone who tries to stay out of the spotlight, and she acts and dresses in a way that makes sure she is never noticed. I wish she had been a little stronger when it came to Caleb. She starts to grow as she realizes she was wrong in making herself invisible, and it was nice to see her come out of her shell. She accepted what Caleb does a little too easily though, and I was hoping she would stand up for herself more. There is also the fact that Caleb is slightly psychic that threw me off. It didn't really make sense with the rest of the story, and I was happy to see that it wasn't mentioned a lot. This series is different enough from what is out there, and it is a good choice for anyone looking for a more simple love story.
