Bound to Fall
Two years after Kine Raelne was left stranded on Quarn he is settling into his life. He has a loving relationship with the scientist, Suaj, and they are working together to better the Quarnian’s way of life.

Dinun and Moon are still very much in love but Dinun is finding that life among the Angels is hard for a mere human. When an accident brings Dinun and Moon some hard news the two will have their battles cut out for them.

But all things change when a ship arrives from Kine’s home planet and the four men find themselves caught up in an adventure that could be their salvation or their ending.

Bound to Fall is the third book in the Encounters series. It has to be read after the previous two books in the series, On Wings, Rising and Reaching Higher in order to fully grasp the story. Bound to Fall brings a sense of closure to the previous two storylines and provides a new adventure for Moon, Dinun, Kine, and Suaj. I enjoyed Bound to Fall but did feel that it was a bit lacking in certain aspects. The characters have grown and the balance in their relationships has shifted as is normal. Moon and Dinun probably had the most shift. Dinun has grown and I’m sure a great deal of that growth is related to his health situation and the grieving process he is going thorough. Suaj was also a much more sympathetic character in this novel than in Reaching Higher. He is more fluid in his emotions and the depth of his love certainly shows through. I’m not sure what it was that disappointed me about this novel, I don’t know if I missed the falling in love part of the story or if it was just that it seemed a bit disjointed at times. These minor dings aside I enjoyed the story and look forward to more from this talented author.
