Dale and Brandt are making a go with their ranch in Colorado. Things are going well for the two and they are even deeper in love. But when Evan, an old friend of Dale’s, shows up on their doorstep Brandt can’t seem to get past his jealousy to talk with Dale. Can the two men work out their differences and will their relationship survive this challenge?

Dale and Brandt are characters that first appeared in the anthology Cowboy Up. It is not necessary to read that story in order to enjoy this one, although it does fill in a bit of background on the two men and their relationship. I really enjoy Jourdan Lane as an author and I loved the characters in this story. Dale and Brandt are “real cowboys” not boys playing dress up. They work hard, they get dirty, they get sweaty and when they play its all fun and love. I like that they both have faults and instead of downplaying them or trivializing those faults they are pivotal to what makes both men tick. The love shows through despite the ups and downs of their relationship. This was a very realistic look at how jealousy affects even the strongest of relationships and how that no matter how deep the love is it still takes work to make it last. The chemistry between Dale and Brandt was easy to see but it takes true talent to show the love.
