The Holiday Spirit
Kerri Tolbrook has an unusual and interesting job – she helps spirits stuck in the earthly realm complete their business or do whatever else needs doing in order for them to move on. While she’s Christmas shopping for her nephew, a tall man makes a gift recommendation to her. When the man, Galen, realizes that Kerri can actually “see” him, he gets all excited and lets her know he’s a spirit that is NOT dead. He is actually in the hospital in a coma, which was caused by dark spell cast by an entity called a darkling on the previous Christmas Eve. The darkling is slowly sucking the life force out of Galen, and we find out that he has only a year to reverse the spell or be stuck in spirit form forever.
I was utterly impressed with The Holiday Spirit. The chemistry between Galen and Kerri was so hot I had to have a towel beside me to wipe my brow with! I loved all the secondary characters in this novella too. Fred seemed like such a sweet and caring nurse to read to Galen’s comatose body since he has no visitors. I wish all hospitals had nurses like him. Kerri’s aunt killed me too! She had me laughing at a couple of points in the book with her magical abilities and the things that she would do. When Kerri and her aunt cast a spell to see memories that the darkling had suppressed in Galen, I felt so sorry for him! Galen had no clue the spell that had been cast on him and no memory whatsoever of the things he experienced that fateful night when he went to put out an apartment fire. Dani Harper has done an excellent job of blending magic and mayhem into a romantic and sexy novella that you can read again and again and still not tire of. I’m warning all readers though – when Kerri takes a shower, make sure you have a towel beside you to wipe your brow with!
