Witchy Woes 5: Sandra
In this fifth installment of the Witchy Woes series we focus on Sandra, the high priestess of the coven. Each of the six members of the coven have a special power, Sandra’s happens to be the power of sight—she can see parts of events that could take place. What happens is something she never saw coming. When the coven tries to reverse a spell that their newest member cast for herself trying to get a job, looks, health, love and money, it backfires and shoots each member of the circle, except for their newest member, with a fireball. In the coming days, Sandra receives an envelope containing a letter from a lawyer along with a gift card for a car rental, two hundred dollars cash, gas cards and directions to a law firm in Philadelphia. The letter claims that they know Sandra’s birth parents and that she should come to the law firm to discuss the matter further.
The Witchy Woes series just keeps getting better and better! I know that I have said this before, but this is definitely my favorite of the series. Poor Sandra was left at the door of an orphanage when she was just a little baby and was never adopted. She’s felt alone and unloved her entire life, and to top that off she’s lost her job, her phone has been shut off AND she may get kicked out of her apartment soon if she doesn’t find a way to pay the rent. She receives this strange letter with money in it that she desperately needs and figures what the heck, what does she have to lose? When she arrives she finds out that her possible parents are dead and her cousin is a jerk accusing her of trying to get money that isn’t hers. The law firm proceeds to do a DNA test and while waiting for the results Sandra and her cousin, Eric, have become extremely close and they hope that they aren’t related. Overall, the story flowed very smooth from beginning to end and I felt completely satisfied with the ending for a short story. I really don’t want this series to end! I could have read this for two days and not gotten bored. Keep them coming Ms. Hasker!
