Isaac Rhodes is an ex-cop who has found a way to channel his need to protect. He works for his friend Nate Washington in his private investigating business. Big and tough, he lets nothing get to him, nothing except Nate. Rhodes has lusted after Wash secretly for a year but knows that Wash doesn't swing his way.

When circumstances finally force Rhodes to open up about his sexuality he is shocked to discover that his interest isn't as hopeless as he at first suspected. No, Wash isn't the straightest arrow in the quiver but he has no desire to live the prejudice filled life that an openly gay man endures.

Can Rhodes and Wash find common ground or will they be forced to deny their attraction?

I wasn't sure what to expect when I first picked this story up but I'm happy to report that I'm glad I did. I've not read anything by Ms. Allen before but this won't be my last by her and that is a fact. I really enjoyed the characters and the plot. There was a bit of an ick factor here with the plot touching on child slavery/molestation but there weren't any detailed descriptions, it was more of a given that this was occurring. I love stories where there is some confusion or miscommunication between the two leads, each misses the other's attraction and thinks that there is no way that they could be involved other than friendship. Well written, enticing characters, and interesting plot make Private Dicks a great way to spend your time relaxing.
