The Colors of Love and Autumn
Jeffery Layton has lost his love to cancer, a tragedy that has emotionally scarred him and left him afraid to love and lose again.

Shilo David is trying to heal from a bad relationship and decides to head to the Wisconsin woods. He is hoping that the beauty of the fall foliage will help his soul to heal and recover.

Neither man is ready for a relationship nor ready for a new love, but sometimes the thing that we are least prepared for is the thing that happens. Can the men overcome their doubts and follow where their feelings lead? Or will they let this chance pass them by, too crippled by their pasts to move forward?

I have to be honest and admit that I loved this book and it really surprised me that I did. I expected to like the book, the blurb was very enticing and the subject matter looked to be worthy of a few tears. What I didn't expect was to fall in love with these characters the way I did. I'll admit that at times it was almost treacly in the sentiments that Shilo and Jeffery expressed throughout the story. Generous professions of love and outpourings of emotion abound throughout the pages. I'm usually not a fan of books that use this style but for this story it worked, not only worked, but worked well. Jeffery and Shilo are both such strong, charismatic men that you can't help but root for them to win out in the end. The secondary characters, especially Marilyn and Tucker, are wonderful and help make this story a winner. Along with the sadness that is present in the story due to the events of the past the story is filled with humor and there were moments where I couldn't stop the giggles. The sensual relationship was one that built slowly and was not graphic in description. The topics that were touched upon were very relevant to today's society and the consequences of the lifestyle choices that homosexuals have to endure in our world. This is one book that I highly recommend.
