Entwined Fates: Captive
It's like a sci-fi movie has come to life before Mikayla's very eyes. Hostile aliens have invaded Earth. A captive on the destroyer orbiting her planet, she can only helplessly wonder what has happened to her home and the people she loves. With little hope of escape, she's fighting her own internal war when Captain Marcone provokes much more than her anger with his wicked good looks and intoxicating appeal. Mikayla can't seem to control the way she responds to her enemy and she hates herself for it.
Captain Sidious Marcone needs this feisty little minx like he needs a hole in the head. Distractions like her can get a man killed, especially a man working as a rebel spy. He knows he should leave well enough alone, but her sharp tongue and lithe body are enough to drive him insane. She presents a challenge too enticing to ignore. Seducing Mikayla, completing his mission and dodging the dangerous suspicion of those around him can be hard work. He takes huge risks that will hopefully make everything he's done for the past decade worth it and help him win the heart of the one he loves.
Trista Ann Michaels has done it again! Captive grabbed me by the throat and did not let go until I turned the very last page. Riveting, passionate and full of suspense, I simply could not put it down.
Ms. Michaels has an extraordinary ability to create characters that evoke strong emotional attachments in me. I love female leads that are aggressive, intelligent and sarcastic but still manage to be very likeable. Mikayla definitely struck a chord in me. Sidious is a hero taken directly from my fantasies. Flirtatious, driven and a bit tormented, it was very easy to fall for him. The tension between these two was palpable and the suspense in the story had my heart pounding as I frantically flipped pages. I am absolutely dying to get my hands on the rest of the Entwined Fates series. I highly recommend this book!
